Homeopathy

Homeopathy is an art and science founded by the renowned physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) of Germany. Homeopathy is based on the principle - ‘like cures like’ which means that a medicine which is capable to produce certain symptoms when taken by a healthy human being is capable of curing any illness that shows similar symptoms.

For example if a healthy person takes a dose of Pulsatila, he will develop diarhea of changing colours and types, pain in abdomen at various regions, sometimes at umbilicus or at lumbar or in liver region. His sensitivity to cold get increase and his expression may display desire to get caressed, or want of company. He may develop running nose with further yellowish green discharge and cough too. His will develop thirtslessness with irritability due to all this trifles, changing mood and may starts weeping.  According to homeopathic principle, “like cure like”, many patients showing same symptoms have been cured by the homeopathic remedy pulsatila, irrespective of the name of the disease (coryza, gastroenteritis, etc.).

This principle is mentioned in old manuscript by Poet Kalidas – “It has been told in ancient time in the world that poison is the remedy for poison.”

Homeopathy system is based on many fundamental principles.

  • Like cure like.
  • Law of minimum. Which means medicine in very minute form as if less then nanoparticle can easily stimulate the immune mechanism and has power to heal in itself.
  • Homeopathic medicines are proven on healthy human beings, and the symptoms discovered during the proving are expected to treat with the same medicines. As it is human body proven we can say to be the most reliable science.
  • Individualistic Medicine selection is totally based on proving symptoms from book materia medica and matching it with patient exact symptoms including mental, physical and disease symptoms considering patient as a whole to treat.

How are the homeopathic medicines prepared?

It is prepared through revolutionary method of drug preparation in homeopathy named potentization uses a very minute quantity of the original medicinal substance. Very small percent of any substance a drop of lycopodium herbal alkaloid as one part is mix with 99 parts of distilled water. Some powerful strokes are given to this mixture of about 100 drop per ml. It will form 1c potency. Potency is the unit indicating the power of the medicine. Out of these 100 drops, one drop is taken and mixed with 99 drops of distilled water again to undergo the process of vigorous strokes to make it 2c potency. This process is continued upto 30C 200c, 1000c, 10000c, 100000c.

Another basic principle of Homeopathy is that it treats the patient as a whole and as an individual. There is no specific medicine for any particular disease, but there is a specific medicine for the patient suffering from the disease at that time. ‘Individual, not the disease is the entity said the celebrated Sir William Osler.

The homoeopath during case taking process takes into consideration all the symptoms, that distinguish a person as a whole. She will enquire into the details of the patients past and family history, his appetite, thirst, bowel habits, sleep, etc. and most importantly about his temperament.

It is being increasingly acknowledged nowadays that the mind and body are inter-linked. We can now see the rapid awareness of holistic concept of disease with stressed on psychosomatic aspect too. Hahnemann recognized all this long ago, and emphasised that bodily and mental symptoms are to be taken together to form the portrait of disease. The Homeopathic material medica is rich in mental symptoms and we especially use them in selection of remedy.

The present problem of the patient is a part of a sequence. The family history and the events in childhood are taken into account during treatment as homeopathy treats not only the present symptoms, but the entire phenomenon, thereby preventing the rapidity of disease. Children under homeopathic medicines grow into healthier being, they find relief from the bad inheritance as well.

But its all an important task to select a right remedy for the patient imparting them long lasting relief.

The practice of homeopathy teaches the physician to consider the body as more than a sum of its parts. As it’s a living being, it develops, does its routine functions and repairs itself. In this sense, everybody has their own self-healing mechanism inside. In old literature, we can find the philosophy of self-healing power, which homeopathy resembles it with Vital Force. Our vital force regulates all the things which proves us to be alive. According to homeopathy, disease state develops only when our vital force gets deranged. That is the soul reason all are not get affected by the disease and few only get suffer due to so called low immunity. Homeopathic medicines aim to correct this low self defence power of the body by stimulating vital force within finally helping body to heal itself. According to homeopathy, symptoms are the reflection of disturbed vital force, hence treating the cause and restoring health within is prime goal of homeopathy treatment.

1 ml of medicinal substance is mixed with 99 ml of distilled water. 10 vigorous strokes are given on hard surface using a machine (the process is called potentisation).

From it, 1ml of liquid again mix with 99ml of distilled water.

This process is repeated for multiple Times still the original medicinal substance dissolve less than nanoparticle and gets converted into energy.

Hence the medicine prepared is very safe and yet effective.
